Development Status，Current Challenges，and Development Strategies of Dragon Dance in the Yellow River Basin

College of Physical Education，Northwest Normal University，Lanzhou，GansuProvince，73oo7o China [Abstract] Dragon dance in the Yellow River Basin，as an important folk sports activity of the Chinese nation， originated in the Han Dynastyand matured in the Tangand Song Dynasties.It has the functions of sacrifice，prayer， andentertainment，and isanimportantcarier forconsolidating nationalculturalidentity.From theperspectiveof regional characteristics，dragon dance in the Yelow River Basin is mainlycharacterizedbyitsstrong and powerful style， influenced by nomadic culture and closely integrated with Wushu;Dragon dance in the YangtzeRiver Basin is characterizedbyitsagilityand softnes，oftenrelated tothe belief in water gods.At present，therearemore than 5O types of dragon dance in the Yellow River Basin，with a coverage rate of 72.5% in related areas.With Han ethnic setlements as thecore，itpresentsadiverse functionofintegrating festival cultural spacewith publicparticipation.However，its development faces challenges such as the rupture between tradition and modernity，the impact of competition and commercialization，and the elitismof participating groups，leading tothe dissolution of its cultural sacredness and the emergenceofiscontinityinitsissminationIntisgarditiseessrytostablshinstiutionalguaaeesad hierarchical systems，promote thecoordinated development ofcompetitive dragon dance inuniversitiesand traditional folk dragon dance，expand international influence through digital communication，and achieve modern reconstruction of traditional skils through innovative performance forms.The researchaims to provide theoreticaland practical paths forthe cultural inheritanceand modernization transformationofdragon dance in theYelow River Basin，andtoassist in the sustainable development of excellent traditional Chinese culture.
