AbstractIn the new era，talent cultivation，campus culture construction，and social and cultural inheritance and innovation have put forward new requirements for the ideological and political education function of university libraries.The article takes the libraryof Xiangnan Universityas anexample to explore the innovation of ideological and political education functions in university libraries in thenew era.Byanalyzing the importance of functional innovation，this article elaborates on the practical path ofthe libraryof Xiangnan University from the dimensions of resource integration and utilization， educational methods and means，service models and mechanisms.Research has shownthatbyinnovatingthefunctionofideologicalandpoliticaleducation，universitylibrariescaneffectivelyenhance theffectivenessofideologicalandpoliticaleducation，providestrongsupportforthe workofideologicalandpolitical education in universities，and also provide reference for the development ofrelated work in other libraries.
