Exploration of The Optimal Method for Spring Grafting of Xanthoceras sorbifolium

Abstract:【Objective】Xanthoceras sorbifolia was grafted indifferent ways withdifferent years asrootstocks.Thesurvivalrate andgrowthofseedlings aftergraftingwereinvestigated tosreen theoptimal grafting methodof Xanthoceras sorbifolia. 【Methods】Taking four Xanthoceras sorbifolia cultivars1754,188,Wofeng 2and4633las materials,thesurvivalrate,bud length,stem diameterandPODactivityof grafted callus were measured to explore theoptimal grafting methodof Xanthoceras sorbifolia rootstocks in diferent years. 【Results】 The survival rate,stem diameter and bud length of 1- year-old rootstocks combined with bud grafting werehigher than thoseofcuting andspliting grafting.Thesurvivalrate,stem diameterand bud length of 2- year-old and 3- year-old rootstocks combined with cutting and splitting grafting were higher than those of bud grafting. In addition,the POD activity of 1- year-old rootstocks with bud grafting was the highest,and the POD activity of 2- year-old and 3- year-old rootstocks with cuting and spliting grafting was the highest. 【Conclusion】 The optimum grafting methods of rootstocks in different years were different. The survival rate of bud grafting of 1- year-old rootstock was the highest,and the survival rate of cutting grafting and spliting grafting of 2- year-old and 3- year-old rootstocks was the highest,which could provide a theoretical basis for further study on the regulation of grafting enzyme activity.
