Abstract：Macularedemarefers toinflammationandswelinginthemacularareacausedbyfluidleakage，leadingtosignificant visiondecline.ItisonofthemaincausesofvisionlossassociatedwithcentralretinalveinolusionanddiabeticretioathyThe primarysymptomsincludedistortedvisionandreducedvisualacuity，andifeftuntreatedforanextendedperiod，itcanresultinire versibleretinaldamage.TraditionalChineseMedicine（TCM）atributesmacularedematotheaccumulationofbodilyfluidsinthe macula，whichcanbelinkedtothepathogenicfactorof“phlegmretention.”O(jiān)vertwothousandyearsago，thephysician Zhang Zhongjingproposedtheprincipleofusingwarmingdrugstotreatphlegm-relatedconditionsinhis work JinguiYaolue.Basedonclassicaltextsandyearsofclinicalexperience，ProfesorHanGuangsugeststhattheformationandpersistenceof macularedemaare mainlydue toadeficiencyandimpairmentoftepatient’sYangQi.Thetreatmentemphasizestheuseof warmingherbs，combined with agents that promote circulation and reduce fluid retention，achieving satisfactory clinical outcomes.
