Polyculture experiment of Marsupenaeus japonicus and Sparus macrocephalus *

Abstract:In response to the problem of reduced yield,caused by the high incidence of viral diseases in Marsupenaeus japonicu during the high-temperature period,a segmented co一culture experiment of Marsupenaeus japonicus and Sparus macrocephlus was carried out. By adopting a phased strategy “monoculture of shrimp in the early stage (April), shrimp-fish polyculture in the mid一stage (May - August),and monoculture of fish in the late stage (August - October)”,to realize disease avoidance and optimal allocation of resources. Results showed that the 3335m2 experimental pond yielded a total harvest of 620kg of Marsupenaeus japonicus (average size: 32 ind. /kg ; market price:CNY 160/kg) and 750kg of Sparus macrocephlus (average size: 246. O g/ind.;market price: CNY 50/kg) . The total output value reached CNY 136 700,with a production cost of CNY 71 700 and a net profit of CNY 65 Ooo. The profit per unit area amounted to CNY 19.5/m2 ,demonstrating significant improvement over traditional monoculture practices. This study confirms that staged polyculture effectively reduces disease risks for shrimp during high一temperature periods and enhances aquaculture profitability.
