The renovation and transformation of Suzhou Park based on the concept of boundlessintegration

AbstractBased on the practice of planning and design，an update and renovation design for Suzhou Park in Jiangsu Province was conducted，and renovation strategies in 5aspects：open boundaries，scene implantation， friendlinessforallages，plantconfiguration，and cultural inheritance were proposed.Asthe park was built along time ago，it hassome problems suchaspartlyoutdatedfacilitiesandsingle functions，whichcannotmetthediverse needsof citizens.The renovation and upgrading of the park is centered onthe core concepts ofopennessand sharing，friendliness forall agespeople-oriented approach，cultural inheritane.The specifictransformation strategies includes measures such as removing fences，adding entrances and pilot the opening and sharing of urban park green spaces，enabling the park to organicallyintegrate with the surrounding communities.Organize poolside readingactivities，carryoutforest folk artappreciation，setupahealth and wellnessplatform，and createa Suzhou-style leisure ife scene.The northern partof the park is designedas a static leisure area by integrating natural landscapes，whilethesouthern partis designed as a dynamic vitality area bycombining flowerbeds and squares.Fitness equipment suitable for the elderlyis added，and barrier-free facilitiesare setup，etc.Optimize the planting paterns of plantsand enrich the spatial types of plants; preserve historical relics such as the Min De Pavilion，the French Garden and the European-style doorposts，and hold traditionalfestivals，cultural lecturesand other cultural activities toenrichtheculturalconnotationof the park.This practice provides a reference for the comprehensive improvement of the functions of old parks.
