Abstract：Thisstudyaims toinvestigatetheregulatoryefectsofshadingonthephotosyntheticcharacteristicsofLoropetalum chinensevar.rubrum.TwoL.chinensevar.rubrum varieties，XiangnongFendai'andBlackPear'，weretreatedunderfiveading gradients： 0% 30% 50% 70% ，and 90% .The photosynthetic parameters，chlorophyllfluorescence characteristics，and photosynthetic pigmentontentweresystematicallcompared.TheresultsshowedthatshadinghancedthepotentialphotochemicalactivityofP， netphotosytheticatestomatalonductane，andtranspirationrateofthetwvarieties.XiangnongFendai'asmorsesititolight changes，whileBlackPearl'showedstrongeradaptabilitytoghshadingenvironments.Inadition，shadingsigifcantlyceased thecontentofcloropyllachlorophyllbandcarotenoidsinthetwovarieties.Withtheextensionofsadingtie，aighshading rate （50%-90%） wasconducive to chlorophylla accumulation.Inconclusion，shading significantly improves the photosynthetic performanceofXiangnongFendaiadBlackPear'，andthecomprehensivephotosyntheticperformancesoftetwoaietiesuder differentsadingcondonsvaryItissggestedtatadiferentiatedshadingstrategysouldbadoptedintecultivationofL.inense var. rubrum based on variety characteristics.
