Association rules analysis of diabetic distress in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in the community

Abstract  Objective：To explore the potential association rules related to diabetes distress in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes in the community，and to provide a theoretical reference for identifying and preventing diabetes distress.Methods：A total of 164 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes who were treated at two community health service centers in Qingdao from March to August 2023 were selected by convenience sampling.The Apriori algorithm was used to analyze the correlation of variables related to the occurrence of diabetes distress events.Results：A total of 14 pairs of strong association rules were obtained for diabetes distress in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes in the community.It included different combinations of variables such as the elderly over 70～80 years old，per capita monthly household income of 2 to 4 thousand，other medical conditions，need for medication，fasting blood glucose≥7.0 mmol/L，non?alcohol consumption，and poor diet，exercise，blood glucose monitoring，and foot management.Conclusion：In the management of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes，community medical staff should improve the diabetes distress assessment system，focus on the risk of diabetes distress in the population with the above?mentioned related rules，strengthen the management of patients' blood glucose，and improve the level of patients' self?management.
