Effects of different health education methods on the activities of daily living in elderly stroke patients:a network Meta-analysis

Abstract Objective:To evaluate the effects of different health education methods on the activities of daily living of elderly stroke patients and to provide a reference for nurses to choose the best education method.Methods:Randomized controlled trials of health education on improving the activities of daily living of elderly stroke patients were retrieved from the Web of Science,PubMed,the Cochrance Library,EMbase,China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),WanFang Database,VIP Database,and Chinese biomedical literature database (CBM) .The retrieval time was from the establishment of the database to February 28,2022. Two researchers independently screened the literature according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria,evaluated the risk of bias in the included studies,and extracted data from them. Stata 16.0 was used for network Meta-analysis.Results:A total of 14 pieces of literature were included,involving 1 259 patients and 12 health education methods. The results of the network Meta-analysis showed that in improving the activities of daily living of elderly stroke patients,the top three ranking results were family members′ participation in peer education,Plan-Do-Check-Action (PDCA) cycle management,and health education paths.Conclusion:Family members′ participation in peer education,PDCA cycle management,and health education path was more effective than other health education methods in improving the activities of daily living of elderly stroke patients.
