In the history of glass craftsmanship development in China， the glass manufacturing technology in the Song Dynasty did not make significant progress compared to previous dynasties and was even dimmer compared with the brilliant Song porcelain. However， the Song Dynasty must be mentioned， from the perspective of glass material cognition. The Song Dynasty was an important period of transformation in China's glass material cognition concept， and people began to realize that glass was not natural but man-made， breaking the "mystery" of glass. Glass products became common ornaments in daily life， and glass craftsmanship moved from the palace and temples to the civilian realm. The modification of the material cognition notion aided in the popularization of glass among the populace and influenced the development of glass in subsequent generations.
