Upgrade and Precision Control of Kingpost Crane on Drilling Platform

Abstract： Kingpost cranes， widely used as lifting equipment on offshore platforms，offer advantages such as operational simplicity，compact structure，easeof maintenance，broad working range，heavy-load capacity，and high safety.Precision control in the design，fabrication，and instalation of kingposts is critical to ensure crane safety. This paper presents acase study of upgrading three kingpost-type cranes （port，starboard，and stemn）on the HYSY 935 jack-updriling platform. It summarizes key processes for structural strength design，fabrication，and precision control during installation， providing references for similar retrofit projects.
