The Laba Festival臘八飄香年味濃

“小孩小孩你別饞，過了臘八就是年。”過臘八，意味著拉開了過年的序幕。每到臘八節(jié)，北方地區(qū)忙著剝蒜制醋，泡臘八蒜，吃臘八面，喝臘八粥。

Chinese people start their preparations（準(zhǔn)備） for the Spring Festival more than 20 days ahead（提前）. The 12th lunar month（農(nóng)歷第十二個(gè)月） in Chinese is called la yue（臘月）， so the eighth day of this lunar month is la yue chu ba， or Laba. This year， the Laba Festival is on January 7th.

There are two traditions（傳統(tǒng)） at Laba Festival.

One is eating Laba porridge（粥）.

The other is praying（祈禱） for peace（平安） and good health.
